Parking

The Municipality of North Grenville manages street and municipal lot parking to ensure safe, accessible, and efficient movement throughout our community year-round. Our by-law enforcement team upholds parking regulations, including duration limits, designated accessible spaces, and seasonal restrictions. During the winter months, additional guidelines apply, such as the Overnight Winter Storm Event restriction, which restricts parking to facilitate snow removal and keep roads clear for emergency vehicles. Familiarize yourself with these regulations to avoid fines and help maintain smooth, safe travel in all seasons in North Grenville.

On-street parking is permitted overnight during the winter on municipal roads only. This excludes Prescott, Clothier, Rideau, Sanders and during Overnight Winter Storm Events where parking bans will be in effect.

No Overnight Parking on County Roads/Main Roads

Highways and main roads do not allow for overnight parking, including Clothier Street (County Road 18), Sanders Street, Rideau Street (County Road 44), Prescott Street (County Road 44) and Van Buren Street (County Road 24), as these streets are highly trafficked and are snow clearing priorities.

Overnight Winter Storm Event – On-Street Parking Bans

While overnight parking is generally allowed, it will be restricted during Declared Overnight Winter Storm Events. These events will be triggered based on:

  • Weather forecasts predicting snow accumulation of 7 cm or more, or
  • Other extreme weather conditions as determined by the Director of Public Works.

To stay informed about Overnight Winter Storm Events, residents can sign up to receive an email notification when parking bans are in effect. Additionally, updates will be posted on social media, and the municipal website will display a banner - along the top of the page - announcing the ban. Notices will be issued by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the event to provide ample time for residents to move their vehicles.

This system ensures a balance between the community's need for on-street parking and the municipality’s ability to efficiently remove snow during severe weather.
