North Grenville, ON - The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee (EDIAC) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 EDI Fund, established to support initiatives that promote EDI values within our community. A total of $14,083 has been awarded across five (5) key projects, including:
- Accessible Garden ($3,000)
- Prayer Events for the Muslim Community ($2,083)
- Inclusive Choir ($3,000)
- Reading for All ($3,000)
- 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Programming and Benches ($3,000)
"We are encouraged to see such diverse initiatives that foster understanding, celebrate our differences and recognize the needs of a variety of constituents in our community," noted Mayor Nancy Peckford.
More details on the recipients:
- Accessible Garden will improve the accessibility of the Kemptville Campus Community Garden through the purchase of adaptive equipment and improving path access.
- Prayer Events for the Muslim Community will provide spaces for worship and foster connectivity within the Muslim community.
- Inclusive Community Choir by Community Living will create a safe and joyful space where every voice is heard, inviting community members of all abilities to participate.
- Reading for All aims to boost literacy and engagement for students from Kindergarten through Grade 6 by introducing Wonderbooks that combine physical print books with built-in audiobooks, allowing students to listen and read simultaneously.
- 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Programming and Benches will offer safe spaces and programming for youth and provide public benches designed with inclusivity in mind.
The EDIAC is committed to supporting and uplifting initiatives that make North Grenville a more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.
