Twilux Lantern Parade is a free community lantern festival that brings neighbours together to light up the night in celebration of the coming season of darkening days! A month before the event, we hold paper lantern making workshops (biodegradable, handheld, led lit lanterns) in schools and in public spaces for attendees to bring to the parade. On the night of the festival, revelers bring their lanterns to Crozier Park where they’ll join a band of merry local musicians, drummers, artists, dancers, performers, and community members of all ages. After the sun sets, our parade departs, we walk through downtown Oxford Mills with the performers, giant glowing lanterns, flags, noisemakers and hundreds of homemade lanterns of all shapes and sizes. We arrive at a magically staged Maplewood Park where participants will enjoy a series of performances, adding the unique lanterns to the gallery at Maplewood Park. The audience is treated to more live music, dance performances, circus performers, light installations by artists, creative children’s activities, refreshments and more! The whole twinkling, magical evening concludes around 9 pm, with full hearts and brilliant smiles!
