North Grenville is a growing municipality located in eastern Ontario housing a unique blend of small town and rural culture. Comprised of an urban centre (Kemptville) and surrounded by several charming rural hamlets, North Grenville is situated between Canada’s National Capital – Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination. Alternatively, for a more leisure journey, North Grenville offers the historic Rideau River managed by Parks Canada.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Parks Foreman, the Groundskeepers and Downtown Revitalization Students will assist in the landscape and regular maintenance of Municipal parks, trails, and facilities.

Qualifications:

• WHMIS, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification considered an asset
• Excellent customer service skills
• Understanding of appropriate safety precautions
• Strong ability in taking direction and following through with the given task
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to operate mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of, or experience with landscaping and facility maintenance considered an asset
• Valid and in good standing Class G Drivers licence considered an asset
• Valid and satisfactory Police Records Check

Position Description:

• Maintains landscape elements of Municipal Parks, trails and facilities
• Operates and maintains a variety of hand tools and powered equipment such as lawn mowers, rakes, shovels, trimmers etc.
• Respond to inquiries regarding recreation and culture programs and other services offered by the Municipality of North Grenville
• Work in compliance with all Workplace Health and Safety legislation in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Municipality of North Grenville Human Resources Policies and Procedures
• Interacts with various user groups of the facilities to ensure smooth operations
• Ensures excellent customer services to all facility users, maintaining a positive image of the Municipality and ensuring that the municipal facilities and services are profiled in a positive manner
• Performs other duties relevant to the position as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Ability to have flexibility in hours of work including evenings and weekends as it relates to operational requirements
• Requires steel toe safety shoes
• Ability to lift and move objects under 50 pounds
• Capable of performing essential physical requirements of the position
• Attend meetings and training as required
• Exposure to elements such as inclement weather (extreme heat and/or cold), chemicals, dust, waste site environment, garbage, and noise

Compensation:

• The salary for this position is $17.20/hour.
• Based on a 40-hour work week. Regular hours are Monday to Friday between 6:00 am and 4:30 pm
• Start dates will be early May and End of June until August 31st, 2025.

The preferred candidates must be willing to provide the Municipality with a criminal background check prior to any employment offer.
