Join the Beth Donovan Hospice on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for a special event that honors Truth and Reconciliation Day through storytelling, cultural reflection, and shared wisdom. This event is an important opportunity to recognize the truths of our shared history, find ways to heal, and move forward together with kindness and understanding.

The morning will feature Sandra Jean Buck (Sandy), a Midewewin medicine woman and traditional drummer, who will share personal stories about her family and friends in northern Ontario and their experiences. Sandy comes from a long line of shamanic healers and visionaries and brings a wealth of knowledge and deep spiritual connection to her work. She is a seer and intuitive "medium," as well as a sweat lodge keeper in the Anishinaabe tradition. Drawing on visions, conversations with elders, and time spent in nature, Sandy will offer a unique perspective on healing and reconciliation.

Through her storytelling, drum songs in both Anishinaabe and English, and the reading of her original poem, The Seven Great Teachers, Sandy will guide us through a powerful journey of reflection and hope. We will also share copies of the Indigenous Peoples Code of Ethics, an ancient document that offers timeless wisdom on living in harmony with others and the world.

In addition to Sandy's contributions, Liz Daly—a steward of the Healing Circle Labyrinth alongside her sister Marg—will also be present. Liz found her own healing through gardening and nature, and together, they have created spiritual tools such as the Labyrinth, Tree of Life, Copper Pyramid, Rainbow Teepee, and Medicine Wheel. Their work provides a sacred space for others on their spiritual and healing journeys. Liz feels honored to assist others in discovering their own path to healing.

This event will be a blend of storytelling, spiritual teachings, and cultural exchange—a truly inspirational, informative, and uplifting experience. We hope you will join us for this meaningful morning, as we honor the past and look toward a brighter, more compassionate future.
